来自旧金山，成军于1994年的Third Eye Blind (3EB)，乐队中的创始人物Stephan Jenkins，自求学时便产生了对音乐的热爱之情，开始计划个人演唱事业，花了四年时间跟随着当地乐队四处演出，后来发现组建一个属于自己的乐队才是长远之计，不久，前Funk/Rock乐队Fungo Mungo贝斯手Arion Salazar加入，吉他怪杰Joe Satrani的学生Kevin Cadogan(后来换成Tony Fredianelli)向Jenkins毛遂自荐，最后加入乐队的鼓手Brad Hargreaves则是Counting Crows的鼓手。

1996年因为制作了二人乐队The Braids翻唱Queen的名曲"Bohemian Rhapsody"大受欢迎，进而使3EB赢得主流公司的一纸合约，顺势于隔年推出首张同名大作，早期出道前的几经波折与不顺，培养出3EB在逆境求生存的精神，也展现出他们高超的DIY功力，这确实让唱片公司省了不少银子，超值换来的是六百多万张的专辑销售佳绩，在Billboard专辑榜更待上一整年，期间所推出的"Semi-Charmed Life"、"How’s It Going To Be"、"Jumper"都攻进流行、摇滚各排行榜前五名。1999年底的第二张专辑「Blue」也热卖了二百多万张，顺势举办的巡迴演唱會，也都场场爆满。
